Admissions Information

At Marie Weller Primary School we are proud to be part of The Hawksmoor Learning Trust. We are a growing school situated in the new Towcester development and will eventually accommodate children aged 4–11 (Reception to Year 6). We aim to create a happy and vibrant community where every child is known and valued, and where learning sits at the heart of all we do. We are an inclusive school and welcome all applications. Admission to our school is not dependent on any ability test or voluntary financial contribution.

Applying for a Reception Place

Parents and carers wishing to apply for a Reception place for September 2026 will need to apply via the West Northamptonshire Council Admissions Portal. You can include up to four schools in your application. The deadline for applications is midnight on 15th January 2026.

National Offer Day - 16th April 2026

More information about the application process, including how to apply, can be found on the West Northamptonshire Council website or by contacting the school directly:

In-Year Applications (Reception to Year 6)

If you are moving into the area or wish to change schools during the school year, you can apply for an in-year place directly to the school.

Applications are considered according to the availability of places and the oversubscription criteria.

Please contact the school for an in-year admission form.

Oversubscription Criteria

When the school is oversubscribed, after admitting children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) naming Marie Weller Primary School, priority will be given in this order:

  1. Looked after children and those who were previously looked after.
  2. Children who have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of admission.
  3. Children of staff.
  4. Children who live closer to Marie Weller Primary School than any other school.
  5. Children eligible for Pupil Premium and/or Service Premium.
  6. All other children.

Tie-break: If there are more applicants than places within any category, priority will be given to the child who lives closest to the school. If two or more addresses are equally distant, random allocation will be used under independent supervision.

Deferred Entry for Reception Children

Children are admitted in the September following their fourth birthday. Parents offered a place may choose to defer their child’s start date or attend part-time until they reach compulsory school age. However, places cannot be deferred beyond the start of the final term of the school year for which the offer was made.

Admission Outside Normal Age Group

Parents can request that their child is admitted outside their normal age group. Requests must be made in writing to the Headteacher, including the reasons and any supporting evidence (for example, medical, developmental, or educational information). Each request is considered individually in the best interests of the child.

Appeals

If your application is unsuccessful, you have the right to appeal to an independent panel. Appeals are managed by West Northamptonshire Council.

  • Appeals for Reception (normal admissions) are heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline.
  • Appeals for in-year admissions are heard within 30 school days of submission.
